Mission Statement

Makeup has always been a safe space for me. A place where I can express myself freely, feel confident, feel beautiful, and be creative. It has been a comfort for me for years.

My first introduction to makeup, however, felt like the distinct opposite. I was 12 going into a Sephora trying to get a shade match. I was unaware of a common discomfort and lack of knowledge on medium to deep skin tones. I trusted the employee who matched me to a foundation, and when I tried it at home, it was revealed to be bright orange.

I now know and understand that the state of the industry in 2019 was not where it needed to be. There was a shade range disparity–there still is in 2026. But at the time I felt this weird sense of dread and guilt watching people struggle to find a match. Many women of color have felt the same.

I’m so happy to see makeup companies begin to have an understanding of a deeper complexion and many makeup artists over the years have improved their craft and shade inclusivity, but as a consumer it can sometimes be difficult to find an artist who you can trust implicitly to know the complexities and beauty of a deeper skin tone.

As someone who has been through it personally, know that you can trust me.
